SYLACAUGA, Ala. – After closing down for remodeling and filming with Food Network’s “Restaurant: Impossible,” Giovanni’s Italian Restaurant is scheduled to reopen Tuesday night, Feb. 22.
The filming of the popular show hosted by Chef Robert Irvine began with the reconstruction and redesign of the staple Sylacauga eatery on Monday morning, Feb. 21, at 8:00 a.m.
The show’s premise follows Irvine and his crew around the country as they tackle restaurants’ weaknesses and attempt to redevelop the establishments within a two-day span. At the end of the second day, Irvine observes and critiques the restaurant as they reopen to the public under new and improved conditions.
Last Saturday, Feb. 19, Giovanni’s Facebook page posted a simple teaser:
The updated restaurant will be the venue of the Sylacauga Community Playhouse’s (SCP) next murder-mystery, dinner theater show on March 4-5 titled “Murder, Medium-Rare” which held tryouts last month.
The reservations for the reopening were made through Chef Irvine’s website, and the deadline was Feb. 17. Giovanni’s will serve those that reserved ahead of time from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. tonight while the “Restaurant: Impossible” crew films.
