SYLACAUGA, Ala. – In the middle of a ten-year career in law enforcement, Michael Ponder started a side business installing window tint. That venture has since grown into a full-time enterprise, and he recently celebrated the opening of Frontline Off-Road’s second location.
Frontline Off-Road has opened a new storefront on Hwy 280 in Sylacauga, occupying the former Paul’s Transmission building. The business specializes in aftermarket products and services, including window tinting, truck lifts and leveling kits, wheels and tires, toolboxes, truck bed covers, and more.
“When your vehicle needs maintenance or repair, there are places everywhere that can help you and take your money because you need them,” Ponder said. “We’re filling a different need for people who want to upgrade their vehicles because they see it as an investment. There’s a need, there’s a market, and we’re filling it.”
Asked about the key to Frontline Off-Road’s success in Alexander City and its expansion into Sylacauga, Ponder said, “It’s about turning first-time customers into long-term friends.”
Sylacauga location manager Chris Williams said there are two aspects of the job he especially enjoys.
“Window tinting is how we got started, and it grew because we’re experts who help customers understand the right tint for their needs,” Williams said. “We’ll install what you want, the way you want it, but we also provide full disclosure about what’s legal, what’s not, and why that matters.”
Williams also emphasized the company’s commercial fleet services.
“When you depend on your fleet, you can’t afford downtime with a vehicle sitting in a shop,” he said. “We provide regular fleet service on the go. We take care of things while you’re taking care of your business. Who does that? We do.”
That commitment to service – and to turning customers into friends – is the foundation of Frontline Off-Road’s approach in Alexander City and now in Sylacauga.
