SYLACAUGA, Ala. – For the past several years, Kristi Everett has operated the Back Porch Restaurant on Logan Martin while dreaming of the day she could reopen Heavenly Grounds. Thanks to a former neighbor, that dream is becoming a reality later this week – at the coffee shop’s original location.

“I’ve looked into several possibilities in south Talladega County to bring it back to life,” Everett said, “and when Debe Yoder Hooley told me the old building was available, I jumped!”

Getting everything in place has required plenty of work, but Everett said she has only a couple of final steps to complete this week and expects to reopen soon.

“Probably Friday or Saturday,” she said. “Though we weren’t ready to serve customers just yet, it was so heartwarming to meet and greet everybody during the Christmas Open House on Sunday.”

Everett said the coffee shop will offer its familiar lineup of coffee options, along with several new additions to the menu.

“We’ll be building up the menu as we go along, adding to the coffee and breakfast treats,” she said. “We’ll be adding lunch options as we get closer to December.”

Heavenly Grounds Coffee Shop is returning to its original location at 8 W First St. in Sylacauga. Beginning this weekend, the shop will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays and from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
