FAYETTEVILLE, Ala. – On Saturday, Jan. 31 at approximately 5:00 p.m, Lay Lake Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Heasletts Rd. Four department vehicles responded with a total of eight firefighters.

Engine 2152 was first on scene, arriving in under eight minutes from the initial 911 call, and found a single-wide trailer fully involved. Fire suppression efforts were successful, and the fire was declared out by 5:30 p.m.

Three nearby sheds/shops and a neighboring residence were protected from damage.

Unfortunately, the trailer and its contents were a total loss, and a dog was unable to escape prior to the fire department’s arrival. Childersburg Fire and Rescue responded with an ALS transport ambulance and transported one person from the scene.
