CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg Rescue Squad’s “Ride to the Rescue” fundraising events are set for Saturday, Oct. 10, in Childersburg, followed by a ride in Lillian a weekend later.
Jim Dennis, captain of the Childersburg Rescue Squad and organizer of the events, said safety is a top priority for riders.
“We have medics at every rest stop, SAG vehicles behind the riders, extra police presence on the road, good warning signage, and, if we need more, it will be there,” Dennis said. “We also have excellent communication with every unit along each route. It’s our goal for you to have a safe and very enjoyable ride.”
In Childersburg, riders can choose between two routes — a 62-mile ride and a 32-mile ride. Both routes will begin adjacent to Childersburg Elementary School on Pinecrest Dr., with rides starting at 8:00 a.m.
Following the ride, participants, friends, volunteers, and the public will be treated to all-you-can-eat Brunswick stew, along with other activities and attractions.
