CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The February Greater Coosa Valley (GCV) Chamber Coffee hosted by Rausch-Coleman Homes’ College Park development started with a huge business announcement. Rausch-Coleman has been acquired by the Lennar Corporation.
This acquisition, which includes homebuilding operations that delivered approximately 5,300 homes in 2024, aligns with Lennar’s asset-light strategy and growth objectives, expanding significantly in the South and Midwest.
This strategic move allows Lennar to leverage Rausch Coleman’s expertise in affordable housing while maintaining a disciplined approach to land acquisition through its partnership with Millrose Properties, a recently spun-off Lennar subsidiary.
With the purchase of the Rausch-Coleman homebuilding operation and securing land options through Millrose, Lennar minimizes financial risk while maintaining flexibility for future development.
Tundra Pippens, representing College Park, said the development will continue as planned with few, if any, discernible changes in the short term in Alabama.
“The new homes generally range between 1,000 and 2,000-square foot, ranging in price from $187,000 to $249,000.”
To date, around 20 homes have been completed in College Park, with more under construction, and even more to come as the year progresses.
In other news from the event, new Childersburg High Head Football Coach, and Sylacauga native, Matt Zedaker has embarked on a project to upgrade game and safety equipment for the team. A fundraiser for that goal is planned – a $10,000 drawdown.
Tickets and details are available at the Childersburg Recreation Center.
