SOUTH TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. – South Talladega County residents celebrated both Independence Day and the nation’s 250th anniversary with two distinct community events over the holiday weekend.

In Childersburg, the city partnered with the Childersburg Chamber of Commerce and the ALICE Center to host a downtown celebration Friday night, July 3 that drew thousands of attendees.

Visitors were welcomed by dozens of vendors, exhibitors, and food trucks, along with free inflatable attractions for children, including a mechanical bull. Music was provided by the RadioAlabama team throughout the evening.

Many attendees strolled through downtown to enjoy the seasonal decorations and visit local businesses, particularly restaurants. The celebration concluded with a fireworks display presented by Doug Warren of BOBO Fireworks from the future home of the ALICE Center.

On Independence Day, the Isabel Anderson Comer Museum and Arts Center expanded its annual holiday gathering to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary.

The event featured costumed historical interpreters, including a portrayal of Thomas Jefferson recounting the history and significance of the Declaration of Independence.

Outside the museum, the block was lined with miniature American flags as visitors enjoyed free hot dogs, chips, and cold drinks in a traditional Fourth of July celebration.
