According to the new ordinance, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., those under the age of 18 are prohibited in public places without an adult. The penalties for violations range fromfines up to $500 or even jail time.

The City says they want to protect young people and their families, while helping reduce criminal activity.

Several citizens on social media questioned the long term goal of the plan, asking for more details on enforcement, as well as what is next. Others praised the idea as a positive step to keep young people out of trouble. And still others wondered if a curfew is enough to help, with many suggesting more activities in the community for families.
