SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga’s Promise Ultimate Golf Ball Drop is one of the more exciting events every year in Sylacauga.
Every year businesses and individuals donate $5 for a chance to win $5,000 with a crane dropping golf balls at Legion Stadium during a Sylacauga High School game. The two golf balls closest to the target after being dropped will face off in a putt-off, then the winner is crowned.
This year, the drop will be on Sept. 24, the day Sylacauga host the Childersburg Tigers.
The ball drop is the only fund-raiser Sylacauga’s Promise has each year, and the proceeds from the ball drop are used to benefit community youth programs such as the after-school Bridges tutoring program, Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY), and Sylacauga Grows Community Garden.
It also helps us with the funds to ensure every child has the opportunity to have the five promises fulfilled in their lives:
