SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Zac Abernathy of Sylacauga High School has officially committed to play tennis at Central Alabama Community College.
Abernathy, a four-year starter for the Aggies, has accumulated an impressive total of 42 wins throughout his high school career, which includes 19 singles and 23 doubles victories over the last two seasons. His performance has also earned him recognition as an Alabama All-Star in 2025, showcasing his talent and dedication to the sport.
Standing at 5-foot-10, Abernathy is eager to continue his tennis journey at CACC. He expressed his determination to enhance his skills, stating, “I’m going to work on my tactics and strategies, and I’m going to try to beat the brakes off the other guys.”
Sylacauga head tennis coach Ryan Coleman highlighted Abernathy’s strengths, noting his powerful serve and ability to play aggressively at the net. Coleman believes that Abernathy has the potential to compete for a doubles position as a freshman while refining his game at CACC, a program known for its competitive environment.
Abernathy’s commitment marks a significant step in his athletic career, and the Sylacauga community looks forward to seeing his continued growth in college tennis.
