SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Community Playhouse (SCP) has a rich tradition of producing and presenting amazing plays and musicals in the Sylacauga community for over 35 years, and this weekend will be no different when SCP presents You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
“We’re very excited for this fun and light-hearted show,” said SCP administrative assistant Lauren Taunton. Taunton plays Lucy in the production. “It will be entertaining for adults and children, so it’s just perfect for the entire family.”
According to Taunton, the cast has worked on perfecting the performance since November. The process has been tough because of the challenging music and scripts, but she believes SCP will have a great product to share with members of the community.
The musical will not feature an exact story line, but it will offer a little bit of everything people have grown to love about Charlie Brown.
The production features Zach Tarwater as Charlie Brown, Sean McDonald as Linus Van Pelt, Jake Skinner as Snoopy, Michael Giddens as Schroeder, and Rebecca Messer as Sally Brown. It is directed by LaKeisha Crocker and choreographed by Maggie Beth Dew. Stage designer is Kevin Whitman and stage manager is Heidi Messer.
Sylacauga High School will host three different showings of the musical this weekend in its auditorium. The first on Friday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. SCP will perform at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25 and Sunday, Feb. 26. Doors will open one hour prior to each showing. Tickets can be found on the Sylacauga Community Playhouse website for $18.
