SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The B.B. Comer Lady Tiger basketball season was a huge success, reaching goals and heights that it had never attained before. A lot of that was due in part to the play of senior Aliyah Gaddis.
On Friday, April 7, Aliyah Gaddis signed a letter of intent to play basketball next year with the Gadsden State Community College Cardinals.
Coach James Phillips of the Cardinals is getting in return a wonderful athlete in Gaddis. Gaddis is an extraordinary shooter with many skills, including her speed, that have enabled her to give the B.B. Comer Lady Tiger program a lot of stability.
The Lady Tigers made it further in the playoffs than ever before and won their area for the first time.
Lady Tiger Coach Michael Hale said of Gaddis, “She is a great kid first and foremost. A wonderful athlete but an even better person. She is a great student, family member, and teammate. With her, the team always came first.”
Aliyah has been playing basketball since she was in the seventh grade. She commented, “Coach Hale has helped me greatly. He showed all of us the importance of playing together but also giving us some freedom and having fun.
Gaddis talked about her most memorable moments as a Lady Tiger, and surprisingly, it was not about personal awards.
She said, “The circle talk at practice was what I will take with me to Gadsden State. I truly cherish the time I spent with my teammates.”
Congratulations, Aliyah! We can’t wait to see the impact you will have on the court at the next level, but more importantly, what you will do with the next chapter of your life.
