SYLACAUGA, Ala. – On Tuesday, Aug. 15, authorities apprehended 22-year-old Marquese Donnell Duncan, of Childersburg, in connection with the Capital Murder of Jason Anthony Swain, Jr.
The Sylacauga Police Department (SPD) disclosed that Duncan’s arrest follows the shooting death of Swain, Jr. that occurred in the Scrouge Alley area on July 2, 2023.
Duncan, who was residing in Kentucky at the time of his arrest, was located by investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) at the Ft. Campbell, Ky. Army Base. The U.S. Marshals Service then took Duncan into custody, transferring him to the Christian County Jail in Hopkinsville, Ky. on Aug. 3.
The accused is facing charges in Talladega County for his role in the murder. Duncan remains incarcerated without bond at the Talladega County Jail.
The Sylacauga Police Department expressed gratitude to various law enforcement entities for their help in arresting Duncan, including the Talladega County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the CID in Ft. Campbell, Ky., and the U.S. Marshals Service.
In Alabama, Capital Murder carries the potential penalty of death or life imprisonment with no parole.
