SYLACAUGA, Ala. — Community leaders, business partners, and healthcare supporters gathered this week at Coosa Valley Medical Center to celebrate the success and impact of the Alabama Rural Hospital Investment Program and the role it will play in strengthening healthcare at CVMC.

The event highlighted the importance of the program, which allows Alabama taxpayers to contribute to eligible rural hospitals and receive a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit while helping sustain healthcare services close to home.

Hospital leadership, foundation representatives, and community partners were in attendance as CVMC recognized donors and supporters who have contributed through the new initiative.

Chief Executive Officer Glenn Sisk welcomed those gathered and emphasized the importance of community investment in the future of local healthcare.

“When you look at the list of people who supported this program, it’s very impressive,” Sisk said. “While several businesses made significant contributions, what stands out is the number of individuals and couples who chose to invest. That tells us there is a strong belief in Coosa Valley Medical Center and the role it plays in this community.”

Sisk noted that programs like the Rural Hospital Investment Program help ensure hospitals like CVMC can continue providing essential services for families throughout the region.

The program, established by the Alabama Legislature in 2025, allows individuals and businesses to direct a portion of their state tax liability to rural hospitals while strengthening healthcare infrastructure in their own communities.

Rosa Butts, Director of the CVMC Foundation, also addressed attendees and spoke about the significance of the program for the hospital’s long-term mission.

“The goal of the Rural Hospital Investment Program was simple but incredibly impactful,” said Rosa Butts, Director of the Coosa Valley Medical Center Foundation. “It allows communities to invest directly in their rural hospitals while helping protect access to healthcare close to home. Across Alabama, many rural hospitals face significant financial challenges, yet they remain the backbone of healthcare in their communities,” Butts said. “They provide lifesaving care, deliver babies, treat emergencies, and serve as one of the largest economic drivers in the region.”

Butts said the support received through the program will help expand services, invest in equipment, and continue improving care for patients across the Coosa Valley region.

Vanessa Green, Chief Business Development Director at the hospital, also spoke during the event, thanking local partners and emphasizing how collaboration between healthcare providers and the business community is vital to maintaining strong rural healthcare systems.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support from this community,” said Green. “When people choose to invest in this program, it tells us they believe in Coosa Valley Medical Center and they believe in the future of this community. We commit to being good stewards of the support we receive and to continuing to show up every day to care for people in this community,” Green said. “That’s what Coosa Valley Medical Center is committed to – showing up, loving people, and serving our community the best we can.”

As the program continues to grow, CVMC leaders say the response from local supporters demonstrates the strong commitment Sylacauga and surrounding communities have to protecting access to healthcare close to home.
