CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Childersburg First Methodist Church is using community events and activities to strengthen local engagement and bring families together.
Several times each year, the church uses its property adjacent to downtown Childersburg to host community block parties. One of the most recent events, held a few weekends ago, featured a variety of family-friendly activities, including live music, food, treats, and pop-up vendors. The entertainment even included a talented group from First Baptist Church.
Due to the summer heat, the event’s waterslide proved to be a popular attraction for younger attendees. The block parties are free to attend and open to everyone in the community.
Another community block party, “CarniFall,” is planned for October. Before then, however, the church will bring back its popular “Parents’ Night Out” series beginning in August.
Dates for the events will be announced on the Childersburg First Methodist Church Facebook page. From 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., parents can drop off their children for a free evening that includes dinner, games, activities, and a craft to take home.
The program also provides parents with an opportunity to enjoy a worry-free evening while their children are engaged in a safe and fun environment.
