SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Retired Sylacauga City and Talladega County officer Matt Abrams was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, in 2023. Since then, life has changed tremendously for Abrams and his family. They are now facing the need to make modifications to their home to make it more accessible and better suited to Abrams’ needs.
Abrams spent years serving and protecting others, and now the community has an opportunity to serve him.
On Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 5:00 p.m., Brown Butter Bakery will host a fundraiser meal for Abrams and his family. Meals will be served until they are sold out, with proceeds benefiting the home modifications his family needs.
The $20 fundraiser meal includes baked spaghetti, a side salad, green beans, garlic bread, and Butterfinger poke cake.
A $20 plate can help provide ramps, wider doorways, safer spaces, and a home that is easier for Abrams to navigate.
Grab supper for your family, pick up a few plates for friends and neighbors, and help spread the word about the fundraiser Wednesday, Sept. 16, beginning at 5:00 p.m. and continuing until sold out.
