Now until May 16: The Sylacauga Parks & Recreation has postponed the “Super Sports Weekend” until the fall. However they still plan to host a Pickleball Tournament at Courtside Park on May 16, 2026 starting at 10:00 a.m.  Register online at Sylacauga.Recdesk.com, over the phone at 256.249.8561, or in person at the J. Craig Smith Community Center.

Sylacauga Parks & Recreation invites the community to lace up their running shoes for the Trail to a New You 5K on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the scenic Sylaward Trail at Lake Howard. This free run/walk 5K is open to participants of all ages and experience levels. Whether you’re a seasoned runner aiming for a personal best, a casual jogger, or simply looking to enjoy a refreshing morning walk outdoors, this event is designed for you. While it’s officially a race, participants are encouraged to move at their own pace—making it a welcoming and inclusive experience for everyone. The race will begin at 9:00 a.m., with packet pick-up available from 8:00–8:30 a.m. Participants will enjoy 3.1 miles of fresh air and beautiful lakeside views along one of Sylacauga’s most scenic trails. Advance registration is required but completely free. Participants can register online at Sylacauga.Recdesk.com or call the J. Craig Smith Community Center during normal business hours. All registered participants will receive a race pack and goodie bag. Water stations and first aid support will be available along the course.

Now until May 31:  Sylacauga Parks and Recreation’s Summer Day Camps are open for registration. Dates are June 1 – July 31, 2026, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Tuition is $20/day or $90/week. Registration fee is $40, which increases to $50 May 19, 2026.  You can register online at Sylacauga.recdesk.com under Programs and Youth Camps, or go by the J. Craig Smith Community Center during normal business hours.

Now until June 14: American Legion Post 45 is hosting a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Flag Day, June 14, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. at their armory on Ft. Williams Street. Please drop off worn or damaged flags to the armory and/or Radney-Smith Funeral Home to be retired at that time.

May 15: The next Food Truck Friday from Sylacauga Parks and Recreation will be May 15, 2026. Come to Central Park at 5pm, kick back and enjoy an evening of great food and live entertainment. Tables and chairs will be available but you’re welcome to bring your own. See the Sylacauga Parks and Recreation Facebook page to see which food trucks are coming and who’s playing.

The Childersburg Area Chamber of Commerce is also hosting a Food Truck Friday on May 15, 2026 in Kiwanis Park 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. For everyone’s safety, a portion of 7th Avenue SW will be closed during the event—so come ready to relax, walk around, and enjoy the evening! Bring your family, bring your friends, and come hungry!

May 16: Third Saturday Trade Day is May 16, 2026 at the Bibb Graves Community Center in Millerville. Come for a great day of shopping at the Shoppes of Millerville, 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. You’ll find treasures you didn’t know you needed, antiques, collectibles including fireKing, vintage clothes, hand bags, lots of jeans, floral arrangements, furniture and the list goes on. And there’s free vendor set up outside for items you’d like to sell. Snacks are also available for purchase.

Crazy Dayz will be Saturday May 16, 2026 in downtown Sylacauga and First Bank of Alabama parking lot, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  So much fun to be had by all! Kids activities like Foam Frenzy, Mega Sprinkler, and Touch-A-Truck. Vendors, food trucks and an Adopt-A-Dog parade! See YOU there!

May 21: Mark your calendars! 🎉 On Thursday, May 21, 2026, the doors to our new Sylacauga Goodwill will be OPEN. They can’t wait to see you there! Doors open at 9:00 a.m. Will YOU be first in line?

June 11-13: The Muddy Water Bluegrass Festival is June 11-13, 2026 at 145 Memorial Loop in Weogufka (next to Second Baptist Church) rain or shine! Admission is free but donations are appreciated. Bring a chair or a blanket and check out the dance stage. Open jamming Thursday and Friday and Saturday stage shows from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Food will be also available for purchase.

June 13: American Legion Post 45 will hold it’s annual Car Show Saturday June 13, 2026 at their headquarters off Ft. Williams from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Free public admission, 50/50 split the pot, door prizes and flea market.

June 26: The Star Spangled Sylacauga celebration of our nation’s 250th birthday is June 26, 2026 at Central Park. More details to come.

June 27: 3rd annual Sylacauga Aviation Day is Saturday June 27, 2026 from 10:00 a.m until 1:00 p.m. at the Sylacauga Airport. Honoring our past, and inspiring our future, this day will be filled with static displays of aircraft and helicopters open for all to see. Come spend a few hours touring the airfield, meeting local and professional pilots, and enjoying the aviation community. Take a plane ride, see our flight schools, activities for the kids and food trucks along with local vendors so there will be plenty of things to do and see. Admission and parking are free!

July 3: The City of Childersburg proudly presents Stars Over Childersburg — a night full of community, celebration, and patriotic fun at the Alice Community Center Campus on July 3, 2026!  We’re so excited to bring our community together for an unforgettable evening, and trust us… you won’t want to miss this one!

July 25: The Annual Childersburg Christmas Bazaar – hosted by the Historical Society at the Butler-Harris Rainwater House – is scheduled for Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the R.S. Limbaugh Community Center.  Crafts, clothing, treats, jewelry, boutique items, and food trucks will be on site.

October 26: The next ConnectHer Women’s Conference will be October 26, 2026. More details to come.

November 1: Sylacauga’s Christmas Open House is November 1, 2026.  Shop local!

November 29: Sylacauga’s Christmas Tree Lighting will be November 29, 2026. More details to come.
