Now through May 24: The Sylacauga Parks and Recreation Summer Day Camp registration is officially open! It’ll be loads of fun – they’ve got a packed schedule ready to keep your kiddos busy and exhaust all that energy. They haveg new games and activities including pickleball, kidfit, crafts, theme weeks, color olympics, a talent show, field trips, a water park and so much more! This is in addition to daily activities/games, weekly visits to the Talladega pool and library, laser tag, story time with friends, SnoBiz, etc. Parents will receive a detailed weekly schedule the week prior so you can plan accordingly and know exactly what your kid is up to!  Register by May 19 to ensure your child gets a t-shirt! The registration fee is $40 and tuition is $20/day or $90/week which can be paid in cash, check, or card. NOTE: The registration fee will increase to $50 after May 19! May 4: Altapointe Health is steppin’ up for mental health Saturday May 4th at Central Park, across from Blue Bell 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be food trucks, live entertainment and a kid’s fun zone. But more importantly, learn more about Altapoint’s Health programs including their Adult Outpatient Services, Children and Adolescent Programs, Substance Abuse Services and Accordia Health Family Medical Care in Rockford.

May 11: Sunshine Saturday is May 11, 2024 at Central Park and it’s also the ARC’s 50th birthday. More details to come.

May 18:  Miss Sylacauga and Little Miss Marble Valley ipageants are being held on Saturday, May 18, at Sylacauga High School. Ages 0-5 starts at 9:00 a.m.; Ages 6-17 starts at 2:00 p.m.

May 18: The Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce is bringing back a Sylacauga favorite – Crazy Dayz!! Saturday, May 18, stroll Downtown Sylacauga to snag some CRAZY deals from your local merchants and have some CRAZY fun with family and friends! This year we’re featuring: Touch-A-Truck – Bring the little ones (and big ones, we won’t judge) to sit on, take pictures with, and maybe play with the big machines and vehicles! Foam Frenzy – It’s going to get soapy with gazillions of bubbles and the Sylacauga fire truck hose!  Kids games, sidewalk chalk, bubbles and more!  All events are FREE! This year’s theme is the circus so feel free to dress up in your favorite animal or circus garb.

June 7-9: Celebrate Jim Nabors’ 94th birthday in his hometown at the Comer Museum and Arts Center June 7-9, 2024, at 711 North Broadway in Sylacauga. Tour Jim’s gallery on June 7th. Join the museum crew for a cook out with live music on the lawn, along with trivia games on June 8th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Then on June 9th, they’ll do the confetti release at Noon. If you can’t come, you can still mail a birthday card to Comer Museum, Attention Jim at P.O.Box, Sylacauga, AL 35150. He’s Sylacauga’s own and it’s going to be a SHAZAM of a GAWWLEEEEEEEEE good time!
