CHILDERSBURG, Ala – Local events are ramping up in Childersburg as several new additions join the community calendar, including longtime traditions, the return of a popular event, and two new vendor-focused attractions.
The season of events began Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Sadie Lee ballpark with the annual K-12 Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway. The event featured food, bounce houses, games, educational exhibitors, and backpacks filled with school supplies. Organizers set a goal of distributing 600 backpacks this year.
The August Childersburg Area Chamber Coffee will be hosted by RadioAlabama, located at 99 N Norton Ave. in Sylacauga, at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11. The monthly gathering provides networking opportunities while offering updates on community news and chamber member activities.
High school football season returns Thursday, Aug. 20, when the Childersburg Tigers host the B.B. Comer Tigers in the teams’ season opener. A related community tradition will also return the night before.
Tiger Town Takeover, a community pep rally, is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Childersburg High School baseball field. The event will feature a full lineup of activities, including the return of the traditional Comer Game Bonfire.
The free community event will include a pickleball tournament, kickball, wiffleball, live music, food trucks, and other family-friendly activities. The bonfire is scheduled to be lit at 8:00 p.m.
Another new event is planned for Saturday, Aug. 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. when local businesses, crafters, makers, food vendors, direct-sales representatives, and other exhibitors gather at John Cox Stadium for the inaugural Childersburg Trade Days.
Organizers hope the event will become a new community tradition. Those interested in participating as vendors or exhibitors are encouraged to contact the Childersburg Area Chamber of Commerce as soon as possible to reserve a space.
Residents can also mark Saturday, Oct. 17, on their calendars for Childersburg Oktoberfest 2026, a new downtown festival scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The event promises an afternoon and evening of family-friendly entertainment. Additional details will be announced in the coming weeks through the Childersburg Area Chamber of Commerce’s social media channels.
