TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. – Both of Talladega County’s Governor-appointed district judges handily won Tuesday races. Place 1 Judge J. Scott Brewer beat challenger Huell M. Love III. Place 2 Judge Dale Price won over two primary challengers, Slaten and Beckham.
Talladega County Commission District 2 re-elected Tony Haynes over challenger Kimberlee Davidson in the Republican primary. In the race for Alabama House of Representatives District 32, the seat previously held by Barbara Boyd, Debra D. Foster defeated David E. Reddick and now moves on to face Joey Callahan.
House of Representatives District 3 incumbent Mike Rogers defeated challenger Terri LaPoint and will face Democrat Lee McGinnisin in the general election in November.
In Alabama’s race for Governor, familiar foes will face off in November. Democrat Doug Jones, who lost his U.S. Senate seat to newcomer Tommy Tuberville in 2021, will face each other in November. State Rep. Phillip Ensler is the Democratic nominee for Lt. Governor and will face the run-off winner between John Wahl and Wes Allen.
There will be a pair of party runoffs in the U.S. Senate race. Barry Moore will face Steve Marshall for the GOP nod. Everette Wess leads the Democrats to face Mark S. Wheeler II.
In Alabama’s Attorney General race, there is a runoff for the GOP nomination between Katherine Robertson and Jay Mitchell, after Pamela Casey was eliminated. Caroleene Dobson will more forward to the November General Election with the GOP nomination for Alabama Secretary of State. Incumbent Andrew Sorrell will move forward to the general election after securing the GOP primary nomination for Alabama Auditor. Young Boozer coasted to another GOP nomination in the Alabama Treasurer’s race. The Alabama Agriculture and Industries Commissioner race heads for a runoff between Corey Hill and Christina Woerner McInnis.
In the two races for Alabama Public Service Commission, retiring Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry defeated long-time Commissioner Jeremy Oden for the Republican nomination and will face Democrat James Gordon for Place 1. Jim Zeigler leads the Place 2 race for the GOP and will face incumbent Chris Beeker in a runoff. The winner will face Democrat Sheila McNeil in November.
