GULF SHORES, Ala. – Sylacauga Track and Field’s Jeremiah Crawford is a state champion.
The Sylacauga standout turned in the race of his career at the AHSAA Class 5A State Meet, claiming the 300 meter hurdles title with a time of 40.36. The finish not only secured a state championship but also set the new school record, shaving time off his previous mark of 40.69.
All season, Crawford had positioned himself among the state’s best in the event. In Gulf Shores, he left no doubt. Clean over the hurdles and controlled down the stretch, he separated himself when it counted, closing out a performance that put him atop the podium.
Moments like this do not come around often. Crawford’s run adds another chapter to Sylacauga track and field’s rich history and sets a new benchmark for those who follow.
It was a result built over months of work, one that now stands on its own.
