SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A 40-year-old Sylacauga woman was murdered on Monday, Feb. 26, according to the Sylacauga Police Department (SPD).

In a release provided by SPD Chief Kelley Johnson, Tamekia Tana Fluker was hit by gun fire at least once around 4:00 p.m. on Monday at her residence located at 306 S Main Ave.

Responding officers pronounced Fluker dead at the scene.

A swift investigation concluded that multiple rounds were fired into the home from the street, and Fluker was struck while inside the house. Investigators do not believe that Fluker was the intended target of the shooting.

SPD noted this is the second murder at or near this residence involving a member of the Fluker family.

On July 1, 2022, 22-year old Nartavius Cortez Fluker-Smith was shot and killed while sitting in his vehicle in front of this residence. Fluker-Smith was the brother of Tamekia Fluker.

In the earlier case, 19-year old Sheridan Rashon Clark was arrested for Capital Murder and is currently in Talladega County Jail, with no bond, awaiting trial.

If you have any information pertaining to the murder of Tamekia Fluker, the SPD asks that you contact its Investigations Division at (256) 401-2464 or you may report anonymously to the SPD tip line at (256) 249-4716.
