FOLEY, Ala. – The Foley Police Department issued a warning last Thursday following the arrest of a 20-year-old man from Sylacauga in connection with a counterfeit gold bar scam.
Officials revealed that Dylan Thomas Jemison allegedly orchestrated the sale of multiple counterfeit, one-ounce gold bars to unsuspecting locals for a significant sum of money.
According to authorities, Jemison sold the fake gold bars through the Facebook Marketplace, duping buyers by ensuring the bars passed conventional authenticity tests.
Upon apprehension, he was found in possession of numerous additional counterfeit gold bars and implied involvement in defrauding multiple victims through these sales.
Foley police are urging anyone who might have purchased gold from Jemison or holds similar items to authenticate their purchases promptly and report any suspicions to the authorities.
