SYLACAUGA, Ala. – In a swift manner, Sylacauga Police Department (SPD) officers cracked a burglary case that had recently disrupted the 900 block of N Norton Ave.

On Tuesday, Aug. 15, a homeowner on N Norton Ave. returned from work to discover her residence had been infiltrated and valuable items were missing.

In an attempt to identify the suspect, both the homeowner and the SPD turned to social media, posting security camera images on Facebook. Remarkably, within just four minutes, an SPD record, the suspect was recognized.

One week later on Aug. 22, the Childersburg Police Department located and apprehended the suspect who was identified as Keenan Damarcus Daniel.

A 25-year-old resident of Sylacauga, Daniel now faces the charge of Burglary in the Third Degree.

The Talladega County Magistrates have set his bond at $7,500. Burglary in the Third Degree, a Class C felony, carries a potential sentence ranging from 366 days to 10 years in prison, along with a fine not exceeding $15,000.
