SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Board of Education has greenlit a series of administrative changes aimed at enhancing support for educators and students, effective July 1 as the new 2024-25 school year begins.
During an April board meeting, job descriptions were ratified for two new positions: a secondary program specialist and an elementary program specialist. These roles will attempt to provide teachers with additional resources and assistance.
Chad Littleton will step into the shoes of the secondary program specialist. His duties will encompass facilitating instructional improvement from grades 6-12, coordinating with state educational authorities, monitoring student data, and overseeing educational budgets.
Dr. Jaclyn Rivers will assume the mantle of the elementary program specialist. She will spearhead initiatives targeting K-5 educators, focusing on literacy and numeracy programs, professional development, and testing coordination.
Following those changes, Monte Barron, previously principal at Pinecrest Elementary, will now lead Nichols-Lawson Middle School, filling the vacancy left by Littleton.
“These administrators have a proven record of success and will continue to serve our district well in these new roles,” said SCS Superintendent Dr. Michele Eller.
