Fatal motorcycle crash in Shelby County claims life of Sylacauga man

SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. – A Sylacauga man died Thursday afternoon, April 25, in a two-vehicle crash, authorities said.

30-year old Tyler A. Herrod was fatally injured when the 2022 Harley-Davidson FXST motorcycle he was operating collided with a 2015 Chevrolet Express 2500 van driven by John D. Jackson, 53, of Pell City.

Herrod was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division.

The crash occurred around 2:11 p.m. on Hwy 25 near the 160-mile marker, less than one mile west of Vandiver.

Authorities have not released further details as ALEA continues its investigation.
