SYLACAUGA, Ala. – From now until 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15, Starbucks in Sylacauga is taking pet food donations for the Sylacauga Humane Society.
As part of Sylacauga Starbucks’ “Week of Kindness,” the coffee shop is accepting pet food or monetary donations for the second year in a row.
This volunteer movement means a lot to Ginger Smith, shift supervisor and community event leader for Starbucks in Sylacauga. Smith owns eight ducks, two dogs, and two cats. Her dogs and cats are all rescues.
“[One of] my dogs is actually three-legged,” said Smith. “The two cats and the one chihuahua I have are from the shelter here. There’s a lot of animals that don’t have a home [though], and there’s nowhere to put these animals.”
Smith does advise, however, not to feed your pets food or coffee from Starbucks.
“I mean, I don’t mind giving my dogs the food items because they’re spoiled,” Smith joked, “but I don’t think the shelter will take that.”
Lastly, Smith encouraged the public to come out and donate so the shelter can see a bunch of “wagging tails and happy meows.”
