SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga head coach Matt Griffith is expected to resign as football coach of the Aggies and retire from teaching effective June 1.

According to sources, no official resignation letter has been submitted.

In 15 years as the Aggies head coach, Griffith tallied 98 wins and 64 losses and became a perennial playoff team, making the postseason each of the last eight years. Griffith is second on the school’s all-time win list behind legendary coach Tom Calvin who recently passed away.

SylacaugaNews.com has reached out to Griffith but no comment has been made at this time.

Griffith also spent the last 10 years as director of athletics for the school system before being relieved of those duties in November.

This story will be updated as more details are provided.
