MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Pursell was among six Alabama companies honored on Wednesday, May 20 by Gov. Kay Ivey during the Governor’s Trade Excellence Awards ceremony for their impact on international markets.
Gov. Ivey recognized the companies for expanding Alabama’s global reach and representing the “Made in Alabama” brand worldwide.
“From aerospace engineering to sustainable agriculture products to AI innovation, these global exporters show the world the depths of Alabama’s ability and ingenuity,” Gov. Ivey said in a statement. “These home-grown companies are driving economic growth in their communities and the state.”
Founded in Sylacauga in 1904, Pursell specializes in advanced controlled-release fertilizer technologies designed to improve agricultural productivity while reducing environmental impact. The company exports products to markets including Canada, China, Japan, Brazil, Australia, and South Korea.
The state honored companies from communities across Alabama following another strong year for exports. Alabama businesses exported a combined $23.7 billion in goods and services in 2025, marking nearly a 14 percent increase over 2019 totals. State exports reached 190 countries last year, led by transportation equipment such as automobiles, aerospace components, and ships.
Other companies recognized included Frit Industries, Inc., LunarLab, River Valley Ingredients, Science and Engineering Services, LLC, and Segers Aero Corp.
