TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. – Letter carriers across the country will collect donations of non-perishable food items on Saturday, May 9 as part of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.
Held each year on the second Saturday in May, the nationwide effort benefits local food pantries and food banks. Since its launch in 1993, Stamp Out Hunger has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive, helping stock shelves in communities throughout the United States.
Organizers said community support is critical as food pantries continue to face high demand.
Residents who wish to participate are encouraged to place donations of non-perishable food items in a bag near their mailbox before mail delivery on Saturday. Letter carriers will collect the donations during their regular routes.
