SYLACAUGA, Ala. – First Bank of Alabama surprised longtime community leader Chris Kramer on his 98th birthday by dedicating the “First Bank of Alabama Chris Kramer Chair” through a five-year commitment to the Sylacauga City Schools Foundation.
The bank pledged $5,000 annually for five years to support the Foundation’s mission, creating a lasting tribute to Kramer’s decades of service to Sylacauga and the bank.
During the presentation, First Bank of Alabama President and CEO Chad Jones praised Kramer’s impact on the community.
“Generations from now, people may see your name associated with this chair who never had the privilege of knowing you personally,” Jones said. “Our responsibility will be to make sure they understand why your name is there. It is there because you didn’t simply spend 98 years in Sylacauga. You invested those years in Sylacauga.”
Bank officials said the dedication recognizes Kramer’s lifelong commitment to improving the community and supporting local institutions. The endowed chair will serve as a lasting reminder of his contributions and the values he exemplified throughout nearly a century of service.
