‘Armed and dangerous’ escaped inmate from Childersburg Work Release Center still on the run


CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Inmate Anthony Marler escaped from the Childersburg Work Release Center Friday, May 25 at approximately 1:00 a.m. He is still on the run according to the Childersburg Work Release Center.

Marler was last seen Saturday, May 26 at 7:00 a.m. in the Forest Hills area in Childersburg. He was in a blue Ford Escape.

Marler is a 47-year-old white male, standing 6-feet tall and weighing 190 pounds. He was seen wearing a black curly wig and a black shirt. The escaped inmate is carrying a handgun, and has stated he will not go back to prison.

He has friends and family in the St. Clair and Shelby County areas and may be headed to the Lake Martin Dam area.

Marler is considered armed and dangerous. Use extreme caution with the subject. If contact is made, notify your local law enforcement agency or call the Alabama Department of Corrections at 1-800-831-8825.
