CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Joel Amos Spears, a 28-year-old white male inmate at the Childersburg Work Release Center, escaped on Friday and was recaptured on Sunday morning at 2:23 a.m.

Last seen at his job site in Childersburg at approximately 9:45 p.m. on April 19, Spears was wearing blue jeans, a blue sweatshirt, and red and white tennis shoes. He is 5′ 9″ tall with brown hair and blue eyes, weighs 140 lbs., and has several tattoos.

According to the Alabama Department of Corrections, Spears was sentenced to 15 years in May 2016 for an Escape II offense in Randolph Co.
