Inmate escaped from Childersburg Work Release Center on Friday, recaptured Monday

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – An inmate who escaped from the Childersburg Work Release Center on Friday night has been recaptured in Sylacauga.

Dale Anthony Sanders, serving a 273 year sentence since March 2003 for a robbery in Tuscaloosa County, could not be found during a bed roster count at 9:18 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, according to an early Saturday morning alert from the Alabama Department of Corrections.

Sanders was recaptured at about 6:45 a.m. on Monday morning at Jackson Trace Motel in Sylacauga. The Sylacauga Police Department credits a tip from the public, and 38-year-old Sanders offered no resistance.
