FAYETTEVILLE, Ala. – The 2025–2026 school year will be remembered as one of the greatest athletic years in the history of Fayetteville High School. Across every season and nearly every sport, Fayetteville athletes competed with excellence, toughness, and pride, giving the entire community countless reasons to celebrate.

Under the Friday night lights, Fayetteville football continued building a winning culture by reaching the state playoffs and battling through another hard-fought season. The Wolves played with grit, determination, and heart every single week, creating excitement and pride throughout the community all fall long.

The baseball team delivered one of the finest seasons in school history, advancing all the way to the state championship series and finishing as the No. 2 team in the state. Their postseason run united the community as Fayetteville proved it could compete with the very best programs in Alabama. The team’s toughness, chemistry, and resilience made the season unforgettable.

Girls basketball also enjoyed a tremendous year by advancing to the Sweet Sixteen and establishing itself among the top programs in the area. The Lady Wolves played with passion, discipline, and teamwork throughout the season, continuing to raise the standard for the program.

Volleyball added another major accomplishment to Fayetteville’s historic year by winning the Area Championship and advancing all the way to the state tournament. The Lady Wolves showed consistency, determination, and competitive spirit throughout the season while representing Fayetteville with class and intensity on every court they stepped onto.

Track and field produced one of the biggest individual achievements of the year as Presley Duke earned a bronze medal at the state meet. Competing against the top athletes in Alabama, Presley’s accomplishment reflected the hard work and dedication that define Fayetteville athletics. The entire track program competed with tremendous effort and continued building momentum for the future.

The boys and girls golf teams also enjoyed outstanding seasons by advancing to sub-state competition. Their success demonstrated the continued growth and consistency across every Fayetteville athletic program. Through focus, preparation, and discipline, both teams represented the school proudly.

Softball continued to compete at a high level and added another strong season to the Fayetteville tradition, while the bass fishing team showcased skill and success in one of the fastest-growing sports around by winning a state championship. Across every sport, Fayetteville athletes continued proving that the Wolves could compete with anyone.

What made this year truly special was not simply championships and playoff appearances—it was the culture surrounding Fayetteville athletics. Coaches invested countless hours into developing young men and women. Players competed with character and toughness. Parents and fans showed unwavering support all year long, traveling across the state, filling stadiums, gyms, ballparks, and arenas, and creating an atmosphere that gave Fayetteville a true home-field advantage. Whether it was football on Friday nights, packed gyms during basketball season, volleyball postseason matches, or baseball playoff runs, the Fayetteville community showed up in a major way.

That support mattered.

The student section brought energy. Parents sacrificed time and resources to support their athletes. Families traveled long hours and stood behind every team through every season. Fayetteville’s fan support became one of the defining strengths of the entire athletic program and helped create memories that players and coaches will never forget.

This was more than a successful athletic year.

It was a statement year, to be certain.

From football playoff appearances to a state runner-up finish in baseball, from Sweet Sixteen basketball to a volleyball Area Championship and state tournament appearance, from a state medal in track and field to sub-state golf appearances, Fayetteville High School demonstrated excellence across the board.

The Wolves didn’t just compete in 2025–2026—they established a standard of excellence for Fayetteville athletics to continue.

That standard came to fruition in the form of nine student athletes signing college scholarships. Those students included:

Nick Ibarra – Belhaven University
Jack Canoles – Point University
Landon Thomas – Belhaven Univerisity
Cam Hammonds – Point University
Ever Olguin – Culver-Stockton College
Brenton Cantrell – Lawson State Community College
Ethan Jones – Lawson State Community College
Taylor Hammonds – Central Alabama Community College
Brennan Marlin – Huntingdon College

And with dedicated athletes, committed coaches, supportive parents, and passionate fans standing together, the future has never looked brighter for Fayetteville High School.
