OAK GROVE, Ala. – A road resurfacing project in the town of Oak Grove is among 26 transportation improvement projects across Alabama receiving state funding through the Alabama Department of Transportation’s Annual Grant Program, Gov. Kay Ivey announced on Thursday, May 7.
The Town of Oak Grove was awarded $258,425 in state funds for the resurfacing of seven streets within the town limits, covering approximately 1.58 miles. Local officials are contributing an additional $56,458 in matching funds, bringing the project’s total cost to $314,883.
The funding is part of more than $7.6 million awarded statewide during the first round of grants distributed this year under the Rebuild Alabama Act’s Annual Grant Program. The initiative, established after the Legislature passed the Rebuild Alabama Act in 2019, dedicates a portion of the state’s gas tax revenue to local transportation projects.
“If you are driving from one place to the next in our state, it is hard not to spot a blue Rebuild Alabama sign along the way,” Gov. Ivey said in a statement. “These grants are giving our local communities the support they need to take on critical projects.”
The 2026 Annual Grant Program will distribute a total of $15 million in state funding, exceeding the law’s required minimum by $5 million. Since the program began, more than $78 million has been awarded for local transportation improvements statewide.
