TALLADEGA, Ala. – Talladega College is celebrating the investiture of Dr. Willie Todd, the twenty-second president of Alabama’s oldest historically black college with four days of special events, starting Thursday, Feb. 19.
The festivities will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday with a welcome reception and a benefit silent auction at the William R. Harvey Museum of Art. Starting at 7:00 p.m., there will be a special tribute concert at the Henry Swift DeForest Chapel featuring Jennifer Holliday in a relaxed, engaging evening of music and celebration.
The formal investiture ceremony will also take place in the chapel, starting at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 20. There will be more music on tap Friday night at the chapel with “Black Voices: I Shall Not Be Moved.”
On Saturday, Feb. 21, there will be a gala reception in the foyer of the Billy C. Hawkins Student Activity Center starting at 6:00 p.m., followed by the gala itself in the arena starting at 7:00 p.m., with the theme, “Unmasking Excellence, the Dawn of New Era.”
The four days of events closes out with the Mad Hatters’ Event on Sunday, Feb. 22, starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Hawkins Center.
