MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Three male student-athletes from Talladega County have been selected to represent the North in the 2025 North-South All-Star Spring Sports Week, the Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association announced on Tuesday, May 27.
Fayetteville High School’s Brenton Cantrell earned a spot as a catcher on the North Baseball All-Star roster. Fellow Fayetteville student Nic Ibarra was chosen for the North Boys’ Golf team. Sylacauga High School’s Zac Abernathy was selected to the North Boys’ Tennis roster.
The North-South All-Star competitions, featuring rising seniors from the Class of 2026, will be held July 21–24 in Montgomery during the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s All-Star Sports Week. The weeklong event is part of the association’s Summer Conference Coaching School, which runs July 21–25.
Spring sports represented in the All-Star Week include baseball and softball as well as boys’ and girls’ soccer, tennis, and golf. Fall and winter sports teams were announced following their respective seasons.
James “J.T.” Lawrence, director of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association, announced the rosters. The AHSADCA, under the Alabama High School Athletic Association, organizes the annual event, which celebrates top high school athletes across multiple sports.
