SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce marked the grand opening of New Chance Care, a healthcare clinic focused on helping individuals overcome opioid addiction, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Friday morning, Jan. 17.

Located at 7 Brown Ave., New Chance Care is led by Dr. Charles Brentnall, who is affiliated with Coosa Valley Medical Center. The clinic provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to help patients manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings while transitioning back to productive lives.

“Our goal is to provide a compassionate, judgment-free environment where patients can take steps toward recovery,” Dr. Brentnall said. “Addiction is a tough journey, but with support, it’s possible to reclaim your life, job, and family.”

The clinic is supported by a dedicated team, including Registered Nurse Mandy Kelly and Nurse Practitioner Anne Adkins. Longtime community member Genora Hale also volunteers at the clinic.

New Chance Care’s treatment protocol includes buprenorphine, a medication that addresses pain and opioid addiction, coupled with naxalone, which blocks the effects of other opioids. Patients receive one-on-one care in a confidential setting, with an emphasis on building trust and offering hope.

The clinic operates on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and is available by appointment during evenings on other days.

Dr. Brentnall emphasized the clinic’s mission to guide patients toward long-term recovery. “It’s about more than just the medication. It’s about restoring lives,” he said.
