SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Wednesday morning, March 29, a 26-year old Sylacauga man was confirmed dead after his body was found lying behind a vacant house near Main Ave.
Sylacauga Police Department (SPD) officers responded to a call in the area of Main Ave. Wednesday morning.
After arriving at the scene, SPD personnel discovered a male victim with one gunshot wound to his upper body located behind a deserted house near the intersection of S Main Ave. and E Park St.
26-year old Tony Jaquez Keith, of Sylacauga, was identified as the victim. He was pronounced deceased by the Talladega County Coroner, Shaddix Murphy, and his body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery for further investigation.
This marks the fourth homicide in Sylacauga since the beginning of the year.
There are no suspects in custody at this time, but SPD investigators are working tirelessly to find a culprit and discover a motive behind the murder.
