SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Greater Birmingham Humane Society has provided an update on its ongoing efforts to capture dogs along Hwy 280 in Sylacauga.

Greater Birmingham Humane Society teams have identified approximately 20 dogs and several puppies in the area. The animals are being fed daily through a coordinated feeding plan and monitored around the clock with remote cameras to track their movements and routines.

Over the weekend, Greater Birmingham Humane Society and Sylacauga Animal Services assembled a large humane corral trap, with smaller traps also being prepared.

A Greater Birmingham Humane Society spokesperson emphasized the importance of patience during the operation, explaining that the dogs need time to become comfortable with the equipment and feeding routine.

“The dogs need time to become comfortable with the equipment and feeding routine so we can capture them as safely and humanely as possible,” the spokesperson said. “Please do not independently feed the dogs or enter the trapping areas, as this could interfere with our efforts.”
