SYLACAUGA, Ala. – This Sunday, Nov. 5, several businesses around Sylacauga will open their doors for the Christmas Open House sponsored by the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce.

As these retailers are starting to decorate for Christmas, SylacaugaNews.com spoke to some of those participating to find out about their specials.

Magnolias Gift Shop, which has a store in Pell City, just opened a new location in Chelsea. The Sylacauga location is offering 10% off $100 and 20% off $200 this weekend.

Heavenly Grounds will be handing out brownie bites with cream cheese icing. For every drink purchased, your name will be entered into a drawing for a free coffee and free mini pound cake. The kitchen will not be open on Sunday, but they will still be selling drinks during the Open House. Heavenly Grounds owner, Jennifer Gallups said “We can’t wait to see everybody out and about for Christmas Open House, and welcome everyone to stop by for the best cup of coffee in town.”

Trailwares is a new retailer this year, only having opened in April. They are offering 20% off your entire purchase, ans with every purchase, your name will be entered into a drawing for prize giveaways. “We have have all your outerwear and name-brands from The North Face to Southern Shirt Company, Columbia, and KÜHL,” said owner, Nancy Willis. Trailwares also has summer clearance that could be great gifts or to hold for next summer.

Marble City Pharmacy is participating, but they will not be open on Sunday. They currently have their 12 Days of Christmas going on which started today with 30% off Alabama and Auburn merchandise. The rest of their 12 Days of Christmas specials can be found on the Marble City Pharmacy Facebook page. They will also be open tomorrow, Nov. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and offer complimentary gift wrapping to show their appreciation for their shoppers. “Merchants and citizens in Sylacauga need to take advantage of this great opportunity. It reminds everyone to keep their tax dollars in Sylacauga and it helps keep our shops in town open,” said owners Jared and Jacob Johnson.

All the retailers are very excited to be a part of the festivities during the holidays and see everyone downtown participating. They wanted everyone to know they appreciate the people in Sylacauga showing support to the businesses by shopping local this holiday season.

“There’s a gift for everybody among all our retailers. They have really put a lot of thought into this so people will stay at home and shop in Sylacauga,” said Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Laura Strickland.

This annual event has been in existence for at least 30 years, always held the first weekend of November, will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and all stores participating will have a wreath on their doors and a sign saying to stop in for Christmas Open House. Refreshments and different specials will be offered at each of the stores. A full list of the specials can be found on the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. Each retailer will also provide a list of five must have gift items which will be shared on the Facebook page throughout the Christmas season.
