SYLACAUGA, Ala. – In a celebratory gathering at First Baptist Church on Wednesday, Jan. 17, the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce ushered in the new year by welcoming its newest Board of Directors at the Annual Member Breakfast.
Laura Strickland, President and CEO, highlighted the Chamber’s remarkable achievements in 2023, boasting a stellar 95 percent member retention rate, hosting 30 events with over 16,000 attendees, and representing over 5,000 employees from Chamber Member businesses.
Outgoing Board Chair Ryan Coleman paid tribute to departing members, including Robin Angelo, Judy Davis, Rhett Aderholt, Kim Knight, Shannon Masters, Oscar Crawley, and Renee Riggins.
Passing the gavel to 2024 Incoming Board Chair Kimm Wright, Coleman initiated the introduction of the 2024 Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
Wright, in her inaugural act, introduced a dynamic board comprising Donna Jones, Ryan Coleman, Gretta Spencer, Tina Jackson, Micah Harris, Blaine Green, Deborah Thornton, Tanya Barrett, Skye Owens, Dr. Michele Eller, Casey Graham, Russell Scruggs, Dr. Tara Douglas, Leah Allen, Sam Royster, Whitney Murchison, Andy Cox, Stephanie Brannen, Jeremy Herring, Blake Pharr, and Clay Mintz.
Wright concluded the meeting by issuing the new board with a challenge to tackle in 2024.
“Go all in with the Chamber and attend events, workshops, and meetings,” Wright said. “Make intentional moments of incredible service every day to continue making Sylacauga a beautiful, growing city.”
