SYLACAUGA, Ala. – With bitter cold approaching the Sylacauga on Tuesday, many city resources will suspend operation and shelters will open.

The City of Sylacauga’s administrative offices are closing at noon Tuesday and will remain closed through Wednesday due to weather and continued freezing temperatures.

The First Baptist Church in Sylacauga is opening as a warming shelter and will also have food available. In emergency situations, the Police Department will be available to assist with transportation. Sylacauga’s Police, Fire, and Street Departments are and will remain at full staffing with additional resources as needed.

As long as streets and road remain open, trash pickup will continue on a normal one-day-delay schedule since Monday was a holiday.
