Weogufka man tragically killed in single-vehicle accident along Hwy 21

TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. – A Weogufka man lost his life in a tragic single-vehicle accident on Thursday night, March 14.

James W. Meeks, 31, was fatally injured when he was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet Impala driven by Trederick L. Cook, 45, of Sylacauga.

The incident occurred at around 10:40 p.m. on Hwy 21 near Desoto Caverns Parkway, approximately seven miles north of Sylacauga’s city limits.

Meeks was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol division is investigating the incident.

Details surrounding the accident remain limited as authorities continue their investigation.
