CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – In spite of the threat of rain, the 2026 Grits Festival enjoyed a steady stream of visitors to Kymulga Grist Mill Park over the weekend for the annual fundraising event.

Partly cloudy skies and pleasant temperatures greeted guests as they shopped a strong lineup of over 40 vendors.

A petting zoo included exotic animals like a camel and llamas, and the lines were often long for the famous Grist Mill shrimp and grits, roasted corn, and boiled peanuts, along with burgers and hotdogs, fresh off the grill.

Parking was scarce in spite of many taking advantage of the free shuttle service from the Childersburg Parks and Recreation Department downtown.

Congratulations to the Historical Preservation Committee and the many hardworking volunteers for a job well done.
