SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Favorable weather conditions during the 2026 growing season have allowed area farmers to continue producing fresh crops later into the year. As a result, the Sylacauga Farmers Market will extend its summer season into September before potentially transitioning into a fall market.
The extended season means shoppers can continue purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables from local farms, along with a variety of cottage food products, including freshly baked breads and farm-fresh eggs.
The local farmers market program is administered by the Alabama Farmers Market Authority, which works to promote the sale of agricultural products directly from producers to consumers. The program helps ensure consumers receive high-quality products at reasonable prices while providing farmers with a fair return on their goods. It also offers a convenient and dependable location where producers and customers can meet on a regular basis.
In Sylacauga, the market will continue operating every Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. until further notice.
The market also serves as a location where eligible seniors can use benefits provided through the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, administered by the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries.
