CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – State Troopers said Sunday afternoon, April 27, that they are continuing to investigate a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Tuesday, April 22, which claimed the live of a Columbiana man.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports that the incident occurred at approximately 3:24 p.m. on Hwy 76, less than a mile northeast of Childersburg in Shelby County.
Andy C. Walton, age 77, was critically injured when the 2015 Nissan Altima, in which he was a passenger, was struck by a 2008 Honda Accord, driven by 32-year-old Jerome D. Kelley of Vincent.
Both men and a passenger in the Altima were transported for medical treatment.
Walton was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Nissan, 75-year-old Linda A. Walton, also of Columbiana, sustained injuries and was taken to UAB Hospital for medical treatment. Kelley was injured as well and was also transported to UAB Hospital.
