TALLADEGA, Ala. – New vehicle registration rules have been instituted by the Talladega County Revenue Office.
Starting Jan. 1, a few changes have been made to motor vehicle license and registration laws for the people of Talladega County.
Most notably, all vehicle owners with a county plate will be reissued a new plate that comes with a new look. A county plate is identified by the first one or two digits on the tag. Talladega County’s identification number is 61.
Also, all license plates can now act as handicap tags. However, due to this change all handicap tag owners must recertify for a new plate and hanging placard.
The only difference going forward between a regular plate and a handicap plate will be a blue decal appearing in the upper left-hand corner of the handicap tags.
Other noteworthy announcements include the return of the Bicentennial tag being available for purchase and boat registration with the Alabama Marine Control Division has now been raised by five dollars.
