Sylacauga man arrested in deadly Alexander City shooting

ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. – An 18-year-old Sylacauga man has been arrested and charged with murder and assault in connection with a June 9 shooting incident in Alexander City that left one dead and two others injured.

Latavian Brownfield was initially identified as one of the two injured victims during the triple shooting.

The incident occurred at the Benson Community Center on N Central Ave. in Alexander City.

Jay’z’ion Strong, a 19-year-old Goodwater man, was found dead at the scene. Two others, including Brownfield, were found at the hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
