SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A Sylacauga man is behind bars and charged with manslaughter after a Hoover teen was shot and killed in the Sylacauga industrial park in 2018.
On July 25, 2018, Casey Nicole Kizer and a group of friends went to Fleetwood Metals in Sylacauga to meet with Owen Ladon Wallace who worked at the plant. According to the Sylacauga Police Department, an altercation occurred at the location between Wallace and a male in the victim’s vehicle leading to the gunshot.
The victim, Kizer, was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center by a group of friends in their personal vehicle, where she later died from her injuries.
Wallace, age 24 and from the Odena area, was arrested on Saturday, June 1, by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and transported to the Talladega County Jail. He is being held on a $25,000 bond.
The crime of Manslaughter is a Class B Felony. A Class B Felony is punishable by not more than 20 years or less than two years in prison.
SPD said this case is still an active investigation, and additional charges could be filed on separate suspects that were present and played a role in the act that caused Kizer’s death.
